Abstract

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a chronic respiratory disorder that progresses slowly, characterized by reversible respiratory tract obstruction, and can cause chronic respiratory failure. Pharmacological therapy that can be given to COPD patients is bronchodilators, anti-inflammatory, corticosteroids, antibiotics, and additional drugs such as antioxidants, mucolytics, and antitussives. Therapy that is often given to COPD patients is antibiotics. The increasing prevalence of COPD in Indonesia encourages research to evaluate the use of antibiotics. This study aims to determine the accuracy of antibiotic use in COPD patients at inpatient installations at Siti Khadijah Hospital in Palembang in the period January-December 2018. This research was conducted with descriptive analysis method with retrospective data collection based on the patient's medical record. The data obtained were 42 samples that met the inclusion criteria. The results showed the criteria of patients based on female sex 12% and men 88%. Based on age many occur at age ≥65 years with a percentage of 50%. The most widely prescribed profiles of antibiotic use by doctors are single antibiotics namely ceftriaxone by 30.96% and combination antibiotics namely, ceftriaxone + azithromycin 19.05%. Evaluation of the accuracy of drug use is known to have an precise diagnosis of 97.62%, precise indication of 97.62%, precise selection of drugs 97.62%, precise dosage and delivery route 98.44%, and be aware of 100% side effects.
