Abstract

This research is motivated by malaria as an infectious disease with a fairly high prevalence in the world, including Indonesia. The spread and breeding of Anopheles mosquitoes is influenced by several factors, namely environmental factors (changes in the climate environment and changes in the physical environment), knowledge factors, attitude factors and behavioral factors. The study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and public attitudes towards malaria prevention behavior in RT. 01 Kemelak Sub-District, East Baturaja District. The study was a descriptive analytical with cross-sectional research design approach. The research site was be carried out at RT. 01 Kemelak Sub- District, East Baturaja District. The results of 42 respondent who were sample of study, most of them were aged 36-49 years (42.9%), female gender (59.5%), elementary education level (42.5%), work as a farmer (50.0%). Most respondents had poor knowledge (88.1%), poor attitude (52.4%) and poor behavior (57.1%). There was no significant relationship between knowledge and malaria prevention behavior with p value = 1,000. There was a significant relationship between attitudes towards malaria prevention behavior with p value = 0.001. It was concluded that there was no significant relationship between knowledge and malaria prevention behavior. There was a significant relationship between attitudes and malaria prevention behaviors.
