Abstract

Estimating Zooplankton Abundance Using the Hydroacoustic Method in the waters of Sembilang National Park (Supervisor: Ellis Nurjuliasti Ningsih, M.Si dan Prof. Dr. Fauziyah S.Pi) Sembilang National Park is a nature conservation area that has water areas whose function is very important in supporting the community's economy. Fisheries resources cannot be separated from the presence of plankton in the waters. As primary producers, plankton are the beginning of the chain in the food web. Zooplankton is an important parameter in evaluating aquatic ecological conditions, one of which is water balance. The abundance of zooplankton can be determined using the hydroacoustic method. The aim of this research is to determine the types of zooplankton, zooplankton density and distribution of zooplankton in the waters of Sembilang National Park. This research was conducted using a Biosonic DT-X Echosounder splitbeam. The results of this research show that zooplankton in the waters of Sembilang National Park have an acoustic abundance of 1,554,721 ind/m3 spread over 20 station points with 3 depth strata, namely <3 m, 3-6 m and 6-9 m. The conventional abundance of zooplankton is 384 ind/m3 spread over 5 bongonet sampling stations. Zooplankton found in the waters of Sembilang National Park consists of 3 phylum, namely Crustacea, Chaetognatha, and Annelida and consists of 9 types. The distribution of zooplankton density is uneven, especially in shallow waters, so there are significant differences in each depth stratum.
