Abstract

The purpose of this research is to prove the existence of the fiscal illusion phenomenon in South Sumatra Province and discuss the influence of fiscal illusion on economic growth in South Sumatra Province. This research uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The data used in this study is time series data from 2004 to 2022. The secondary data used in this study was obtained from the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (Direktorat Jendral Perimbangan Keuangan/DJPK) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik). The results of this study prove that there is no fiscal illusion phenomenon in the expenditure of the South Sumatra Provincial Government from 2004 to 2022. Therefore, the absence of fiscal illusion has been proven to have a positive effect on the increase in economic growth in South Sumatra Province from 2004 to 2022
