Abstract
Tidal lowland has never used for climbing perch culture. Therefore the determination of optimum stocking density is expected to become the basic steps that will support the efforts of the development of climbing perch culture for tidal lowland. The aims of this research were to determine the best stocking density, and determine the survival rate and growth of climbing perch fry during the rearing with different stocking density in tidal lowland pond. The research was conducted on 15th March 2014 until 14111 April 2014 in Muliasari village, Tanjung Lago district, Banyuasin regency, South Sumatera. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), were four treatments; 50, 100, 150 and 200 fish/m2 with three replications. Parameters observed were water quality (temperature, brightness, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, NH3, and Fe), growth, and survival rate. Twelve units of net (1.0 m x 1.0 m x 1.2 m) with height at 50-100 cm ffom the base of pond. The results showed that the stocking density treatment was significantly affect on survival rate and growth. The best density was 100 fish/m2 reared for thirty days showed survival rate of 87.67%, weight rate of 2.76 g, and legth rate of 1.67 cm.
