Abstract
The purpose of this study are (1) to analyze the growth trend of oil palm plantation area in South Sumatra, (2) to determine the level of oil palm seedlings needs based on development trends oil palm plantation area in South Sumatra, (3) to analyze factors - factors that affect demand for oil palm seedlings in South Sumatra. The research method used is literature study method. Data obtained in the form of secondary data. Secondary data collected includes data trace the development of the area in time for PBN, PBS, and PR Other data are the data of oil palm seedlings. Secondary data obtained from various literature and agencies associated with this research. The result show generally, the trend of oil palm plantation area in South Sumatra continued to increase from year 1989 to 2009 in a quadralic. The data also predicted the increase in land area until 2020. However, in the year 2019 development trend will stop because the land area land area of 1.204.126,9659 hectares will reach the value where the potential is still available land area of 425.000 hectares has been utilized all. Analysis of the needs of oil palm seedlings in South Sumatra suggests that the level of need for oil palm seedlings was calculated based on the addition of oil palm plantation area or trend of development ef oil palm plantation area and stopped in 2019 because there were no additional land after 2019. However, until 2019 there is still a need for oil palm seedlings amounted to 51.425 million rods to the potential land area of 425.000 ha. The results also shovved that the factor price request seed, palm oil production, income subsector plantation, and Fresh Fruit Bunch (FFB) prices significantly affected the demand for oil palm seedlings in South Sumatra.
