Abstract
This research aims to understand the forms of mitigation and adaptation by women in climate change, as well as the process of women's awareness of efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change in Pulau Semambu Village. The theories used in this study are W. Nick Carter's nonstructural mitigation theory and John William Bennett's adaptation theory. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentary studies. Validity is ensured using source triangulation. The results of this study indicate that there are forms of mitigation carried out by women in Pulau Semambu Village, namely low-emission GRK agricultural land management, the use of renewable energy, as well as energy conservation and efficiency, waste management, increasing or maintaining vegetation cover, and prevention and control of forest and land fires. The forms of climate change adaptation carried out include drought control, improving food security, controlling climate-related diseases, and other activities related to enhancing adaptation to climate change. The process of awareness among women in Pulau Semambu Village regarding climate change essentially arises due to the guidance or socialization provided to the community about what climate change is and its impacts. Keywords: Mitigation, Adaptation, Climate Change, Women, Forms, Awareness Process.
