Abstract
The use of wind turbines to convert wind energy into electric power is one strategy to produce renewable energy. As the price of fossil fuels (non-renewable energy) such as fuel oil continues to rise around the world, it is important that we learn to make more informed decisions about energy use. This study used vertical type propellers as many as 3 blades and 5 blades with a plastic thickness of 1.5 mm, and operated with battery 7,4 volt. Final project study / author's thesis entitled "Comparative Analysis of the Performance of Vertical and Horizontal Wind Turbines On Battery Charging ". From the results of research and writing this final project. The time required during charging a 7.4 V battery using a horizontal wind turbine during the experiment was to get from an initial voltage of 2,1 V to 4,6 V. The time required during charging a 7,4 V battery using a vertical wind turbine during the experiment was getting from an initial voltage of 1,3 V to 4,3 V. In the calculation test to the Battery 7,4 volt using horizontal and vertical wind turbines get a voltage that continues to increase due to faster wind speeds, making the voltage even greater.
