Abstract

The purposes of this research were ( 1 ) to analyze the additional value that can be obtained by gambir smallholder ffom gambir leaves processing to be gambir extract, ( 2 ) to analyze the income of additional value that obtained by gambir smallholder ffom gambir leaves processing to be gambir extract, (3) to identify market structure which is occurred to commodity of gambir extract at gambir cultivator (producer) level. This research had been conducted at Toman Village since Januaiy to April 2005. Location determination is purposely chosen base on consideration that Toman Village at Babat Toman Sub District is the only producer of gambir extract in South Sumatera. Sample election is done by purposive sampling. Datas was collected by direct interview to gambir cultivator and related side with a number of guided questions list. Based on the this research, additional value obtained by gambir smallholder ffom gambir leaves processing to be gambir extract showed an amount of Rp29.981.400,00 for every cultivation area per year. Income the additional value that could be eamed ffom gambir leaves Processing to be gambir extract show a figure of Rp28.386.400,00 for every cultivation area per year. I And market structure that occurred at gambir smallholder (producer) level at Toman Village is oligopsony market structure. *
