Abstract

Empowerment of posyandu cadres is one of the keys to the success of the stunting prevention program. Cadre empowerment is one of the efforts made to increase the knowledge and skills of cadres through health education activities and informal training. Posyandu activities as stunting detection and posyandu cadre empowerment activities are not running so this research was conducted. The aimed to analyze the empowerment of posyandu cadres in detecting stunting in children as an effort to prevent stunting in the Mekar Sari Health Center working area. Methods. This study used qualitative methods through indept interview data collection, document review, and directed observation. This research involved 27 informants. The results showed the Stimulus component in empowering posyandu cadres in an effort to reduced stunting rates in the Mekar Sari Health Center working area, namely increasing the knowledge and skills of posyandu cadres has not gone well, the completeness of facilities and infrastructure has started quite complete, and there was nothing special funding for cadres in cadre empowerment activities and stunting detection. The Organism component cadres had attention to the implementation of stunting detection. However, had not yet a good understanding of stunting detection. Posyandu cadres accepted their duties in carrying out posyandu activities as an effort to detected stunting in the Mekar Sari Health center working area. The resulting Responsed component was not all posyandu cadres were empowere in carrying out stunting detection. Conclusion Empowerment of posyandu cadres as an effort to reduced stunting rates in the Mekar Sari Health Center Working Area includes three components, namely the stimulus provided by the cadres was not good, the cadre organism itself had cadres who understanding and understand but not maximally. Therefore, they not accepted the task properly, and the responsed there were already some cadres who had the ability to detected stunting, however not optimal in the Mekar Sari Health Center working area.
