Abstract

The objective of the research was to know the effect of some various shelter stage on celery (Apium graveolens L.) growth and production in polybag. The research was conducted on field experiment in Department of Agronomy Agriculture Faculty Sriwijaya University Indralaya, from August to November 2005. The data were Analyzed using Randomized Block Design by one factor that used shelter in range of 0 %, 35-44 %, 45-55 %, 56-65 % and 65-75 %. Ali of the treatments consisted of twelve plants by five samples and three replications. The result showed that shelter treatments non significantly effected to each treatment, but treatment by 56-65 % shelter stage (N3) was giving the best result in increased shoot height and plant production. While treatment by 45-55 % (N2) was gave the best result in leaves number and seedling number. The application of shelter gave better result on plant production and growth, compared to treatment by control.
