Abstract

Performance art is a work of art which involves the action of individuals or groups in a particular place and time, such as dance, music and theatre. In West Sumatra, a place often held the performing arts is a town of Bukittinggi is a tourism city in West Sumatra Province. A variety of performing arts held every week who has powered and programmed by City Government Bukittinggi. In addition to shopping centre, the city of Bukittinggi is famous for its sights so it is attracting tourists to visit the city. even though the performing arts program has become routine, but this town has not had the container specifically to carry out an activity that is worth this education and recreation. Location is often the choice is simply the open spaces of the cities, so that viewers who watched less the feel of comfort. Through the design of the performing arts center is expected to meet the facilities performing arts activities in Bukittinggi and can improve the quality of the performing arts both traditional and modern in nature so that it becomes an attraction for tourist domestic and foreign tourists. Performing Arts Center West Sumatra this architectural approach with a hybrid because it contains elements of traditional and modern in design, the mangangkat concept of the vernacular architecture of West Sumatra as a form of adaptation to the local architectural value.
