Abstract

As a tropical country with abundant forestry products, Indonesia often utilizes this power as a tool to increase foreign exchange for the country, as much as 90 percent of forestry products come from Non-Wood Forest Products, one of which is bamboo. Indonesia is ranked third as bamboo producing country in the world, where 10 percent of the world's bamboo is in Indonesia and 105 species are claimed to be Indonesia's endemic plants. Along the time, the government in the Regulation of the Minister of Trade Number 22 of 2023 article 2 paragraph 2 stipulates a ban on the export of raw products. The export of forestry products must be in the form of ready-to-use goods. One of the newest export commodities is bamboo chopsticks. Exploring the international market for the first time in 2017, the export of bamboo chopsticks expanded to find a market share in the Philippines and managed to experience a surplus for the last 3 years. Indonesia also became the second country to export bamboo chopsticks to the Philippines after the People’s Republic of China. This research aims to find out the competitive advantages of Indonesian bamboo chopsticks products. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with analytical data from journals, websites, and interviews. Using the porter diamond theory as an analysis tool, the research results show that the competitiveness of Indonesia's bamboo chopsticks is dominated by the government that carries out its role as a firm policy stakeholder structure (firm structure) by providing technical training, work safety training, incentive support, and setting export-free regulations. The government also consistently maintains the sustainability of bamboo natural resources by holding a development program for 1000 bamboo villages and setting special standards for sustainable bamboo harvesting to advance the small and medium Industries and maintain the stability of the domestic and international markets.
