Abstract

Traffic accident usually happens on motorcycle rider which is caused by many factors, such as human factor, vehicle, and road. More than 80 % traffic accident caused by human factor. At Palembang City, the number of traffic accident cases has increased in the last 5 years so it would potentially increase in next years. It should be analyzed about the correlation between human factor and vehicle with traffic accident at Palembang City. It was a quantitative research while the data collected was cross-sectional data. The sample was motorcycle rider who located at Palembang City and the amount was 160 people. Sampling technique was purposive sampling. The data will be analyzed by using bivariate. The result showed that there was a correlation between knowledge (p value=0,034) with traffic accident on motorcycle rider at Palembang City. In another case, there were no correlation between driving behavior (p value=0,405), rider skill (p value=0,249), use of personal protective equipment (p value=0,893), physical health condition (p value=1,000), vehicle (p value=0,075), and social environment (p value=0,612) with traffic accident on motorcycle rider at Palembang City. Concluded that there is no correlation between human factor (p value=0,415) with traffic accident on motorcycle rider at Palembang City. 54,4 % motorcycle riders at Palembang City have a high risk to get traffic accident. The traffic accident can be reduced by increasing rider knowledge through safety riding program. Moreover, this program will improve rider skill.
