Abstract
PT. BUMA Site Lati is applying deep hole blasting in 2017, it is blasting at a depth of 12 m-18 m to enlarge the inventory of blasting material. In addition, deep hole blasting also increases the efficiency of time and cost in by increasing Use of Availability (UA) drilling machine, reducing travel unit, and minimizing drilling preparation. But deep hole blasting also causes an increase in powder factor value. Blasting deep hole at PT. BUMA Lati with the addition of air deck has an average powder factor value of 0.26 and some blasting produces boulder material. The standart powder factor value that designed is 0,.23-0,24. To reduce the value of the powder factor and to improve the quality of the blasting ffagments, the air deck ratio decreasing was designed. The ffagmentation of blasting material result by 10 trials, before modification of middle air deck, the powder factor is 0,26; ratio air deck 31%, the smallest size of P 80 is 0,37 m, the largest is 0,79 m and 5 blasting only produces fractures on the surface. Top size or largest size is in the range of 0,62 m to 1,60 m. The average digging time on the Hitachi EX 3600 power shovel unit before the modification of air deck design is 16,2 seconds where the digging time target set by PT. BUMA Site Lati is 12 seconds up to 14 seconds. The actual average productivity is 1,307,2 bcm / hour, where the productivity target set by PT. BUMA Site Lati is 1,450 bcm / hour. After the modification of middle air deck, powder factor is 0,24, ratio air deck is 20 %, the smallest size of P 80 is 0,38 m and the largest is 1,27 m. Top size is in the range of 0,63 m up to 2,26 m. After modification of middle air deck design, the average digging time is 13,1 seconds. The actual productivity is 1,479.6 bcm / hour. where the productivity target set by PT. BUMA Site Lati is 1,450 bcm / hour.
