Abstract
Styrofoam is a non-biodegradable plastic because its high molecular weight and stable structure make this plastic waterproof and hard, difficult to decompose in nature, causing natural pollution on land and at sea. There is a need for alternative solutions to the problem of waste in the environment. T.molitor larvae use a digestive mechanism that involves enzymes and collaborates with bacteria in their digestive system. The potential for T.molitor larvae to eat polystyrene (PS) plastic, having enzymes and bacteria in their digestive system to break down polystyrene foam into simpler organic compounds could be an alternative to waste problems through a biodegradation process. This research aims to determine which supplements are best treated. good, to trigger Tenerbio molitor in degrading Styrofoam, accelerating the rate of degradation and survival and mortality effects. This research is an experimental study and was designed using a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 5 repetitions. Treatment includes P0 as control, P1, P2, P3, P4. Observations were carried out for 20 days. The results of the research show that the combination of pear and yeast has the highest percentage in degrading Styrofoam, based on the rate of degradation, survival, and has no effect on mortality. The conclusion of this research is that the best treatment to accelerate the rate of degradation is the addition of pear and yeast. Supplements Nutrition not only increases the energy or performance of T. molitor but plays a role in preventing T. molitor from experiencing mortality
