Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in children's independence through montessori method activities in children aged 5-6 years at Dahlia Kindergarten Ilir Barat 2 Palembang. The benefits of this research as a source of reference and knowledge to parents and children that independence is very important to develop. This research uses the method of classroom action research (PTK), using the Rustiyarso-Tri Wijaya early reflection classroom action research model. Data collection techniques using observation techniques using a checklist sheet. The results of the data obtained by the researcher stated that the independence of children aged 5-6 years, precisely group B in the kindergarten, increased, namely in the pre-cycle getting a class average of 36.42%, in cycle I getting 62.57% showing an increase of 26.15% and in the next cycle the researcher got an average of 81.7% by showing an increase from cycle II by 19.13%. It can be concluded that montessori method activities can be used to increase children's independence. for that it is recommended that teachers and schools can apply montessori method activities in increasing children's independence.
