Abstract

The objective of this research was to know the composition of optimal plant media on oil palm seedling {Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) in pre nursery on nursery tray. This research was done in Plant Breeding laboratory of Agronomy Department, Agriculture faculty of Sriwijaya University at Indralaya, from March to June 2009. This research used the Randomized Block Design (RBD) with five treatment by five replications. Every unit of research consisted of four plants in every replication. Regression analysis was used to analysis data of crop growth, leaf number, stem diameter, and leaf area total. While data of fresh root weight was analyzed in ANOVA. The result of the research showed that height growth, leaf number, stem diameter and leaf area total by using regression analysis did not show the growth different among five treatment, but P2 treatment (40% top soil, 40% sand, 20% manure) gave the best result. P2 treatment also had the fresh root weight.
