Abstract

Foot and mouth disease (FMD) is a condition in which an infectious disease caused by aphtae epizooticae virus belonging to the apthovirus genus and the picornaviridae famili that attack even-hoofed cattle. Foot and mouth disease causes huge losses to the livestock industry. The purpose of this study was to study the reproductive status of cattle after foot and mouth disease. The variables observed were type pf cattle, vaccine history, the cow recovering, the cow returning to estrus, the cow experiencing pregnancy, age of cattle, type of feed and body score condition and reproductive disorders. The method of data was quantitative descriptive with a survey approach. The data obtained was analyzed using percentages and presented in piechart and then intepreted descriptively. The results show that after the FMD outbreak it did not reduce reproductive performance but slowed down the reproductive performance of cattle such as lengthening the estrus cycle, extending the time between one birth and the next, reducing the conception rate and reducing the percentage of the calves. The result of the perectal palpation showed that the cow had a endrometritis (35%), normal (25%), ovarian hypofunction (16%), atropi (9%), follicular cyst (9%) and persistent corpus luteum (6%).
