Abstract
A prototype transceiver based on visible light waves has been successfully made using a white LED as a transmitter and photodiode and LDR as light detectors at the receiver. The data sent is text data with air and water transmission media. The test results show that the photodiode can transmit up to 82 cm in air and 80 cm in fresh water, salt water, room temperature and also cold temperature water, except for red and green colored water which is not detected at all. While the LDR reaches a maximum distance of 64 cm in the air and 60 cm in water with any medium variation except green water which is not detected at all. And yellow colored water reaches a maximum distance of 60 cm on both detectors. Keywords: LED, Transceiver, Photodetector, Visible Light Communication
