Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim of determining the improvement of gross motor skills through the traditional game cak engklek in group B children at the Vita Sejahtera Sako Kindergarten, Palembang. The benefit of this research is providing knowledge to children regarding physical motor development, especially gross motor skills. The research method used is classroom action research using the Kemmis and MC Taggart models for each cycle, includes the planning stage, action stage, observation stage and reflection stage. The sample studied consisted of 10 children. The data collection technique is observation using a checklist. Based on the results of data analysis gross motor skills exist: in pre-cycle 2 children were in the MB category (20%), in cycle I there were 8 children in the MB category (80%) and in cycle II there were 8 children in the BSH category (80%). It can be said that gross motor skills have increased, from cycle I to cycle II as many as 8 children were in the BSH (80%) category, the conclusion is that the cak engklek game can improve gross motor skills. For this reason, it is recommended that teachers apply the cak engklek game in learning. Keyword : Gross motor skills, Traditional cak engklek games, early childhood
