Abstract
Maternal mortality is one of the sensitive indicators that can assess the good and bad quality of a country's health. It is one of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) targets, namely the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) targeted at less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. Muara Enim Regency is ranked first with the highest maternal mortality cases in South Sumatra Province in 2022. Mapping is a form of data presentation that can make it easier for readers to understand health problems that are happening in their environment and can help policymakers in making decisions and prioritizing health problems. The purpose of this study is to describe the determinants of maternal mortality in Muara Enim Regency in 2020-2022. This research uses a descriptive method with an ecological study approach and uses secondary data from the Muara Enim District Health Service. Data analysis uses overlay spatial analysis and buffer analysis. The results showed that high maternal mortality cases were centered in the work areas of Muara Enim Health Center and Tanjung Enim Health Center. The high number of maternal deaths in Muara Enim Regency is caused by poor handling of obstetric complications and unequal distribution of health center services. There is a need to increase collaboration with other sectors, improve access and quality of health workers and disseminate information related to maternal health services.
