Abstract

PT Bukit Asam, Tbk is a state-owned company in the coal mining industry, located in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra. Mining is conducted through open pit mining methods, covering the areas of TAL, MTB, Banko Barat, and Banko Tengah. Despite having strong coal resources and infrastructure, PT Bukit Asam often struggled to meet production targets. Factors affecting the productivity of loading and hauling equipment included equipment conditions, mechanical failures, insufficient maintenance, weak coordination, and environmental factors. This study aimed to evaluate the productivity of loading and hauling equipment towards the coal production target in September 2022, analyze inhibiting factors between loading and hauling equipment in the same month, and assess the productivity of the equipment after efficiency improvements in mining. Data collection methods involved literature studies, surveys, and field observations. The data processing process involved several steps, starting from organizing equipment circulation time data in Microsoft Excel, calculating productivity using specific equations, to analyzing inhibiting factors and wasted time. The obtained data was then analyzed. The research results indicated that the actual productivity of the loading equipment in September was 235.03 tons/hour with a production of 372,855 tons/month, and the Kamaz 6520 dump truck was 48.08 tons/hour with a production of 381,348 tons/month. The main factor hindering productivity was low work efficiency, specifically 73%, due to time constraints during coal stripping. After improvements, efficiency increased to 78%, with loading equipment productivity at 251.17 tons/hour (production of 425,799 tons/month) and hauling equipment at 51.38 tons/hour (production of 435,504 tons/month).
