Abstract

This study aims to describe the form of gender injustice and the implications of the results of research on gender injustice in the novel Hilda by Muyassarotul Hafidzoh in learning Indonesian literature in schools. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive method using feminist literary criticism studies. The source of the data was obtained from the novel Hilda written by Muyassarotul Hafidzoh. The technique used in data collection is literature study. The result of this study is a form of gender injustice found in the novel Hilda by Muyassarotul Hafidzoh in the form of marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, violence, and double burden. First, there is one form of marginalization, where women are deprived of the right to education. Second, there are three forms of subordination: women are forced to marry whoever accepts them, women cannot refuse their husbands' requests, and women are not given the right to choose their own partners. Third, there are six forms of stereotypes, namely women are considered seducers of people's husbands, women are considered dirty women, women are labeled as adulterers, women are considered brutal and too free to associate, women are considered to lack attention to children, and women are considered unable to give offspring to their husbands. Fourth, there are three forms of violence, namely physical violence in the form of domestic violence and being tied up, psychological violence in the form of being threatened, and sexual violence in the form of harassment and rape. Fifth, there is a double burden, where women do household chores while earning a living. Furthermore, this research has implications for literature learning in accordance with Basic Competence 3.9 class XII, becomes a matter of discussion or literary projects, becomes a consideration in carrying out the learning process so that gender inequality does not occur, and becomes a consideration for teachers in choosing teaching materials to be taught to students.
