Abstract

Difficulties that still often occur are converting problems into mathematical form, not understanding the concept of SPLTV and even having errors in algebraic calculations. Therefore, this study aims to describe the emergence of indicators of students' qualitative thinking skills through the Rigorous Mathematical Thinking (RMT) approach on the topic of Algebra for SPLTV material. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with research subjects namely students of class X MIPA Olympiad SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Palembang as many as 26 students with the focus of the subject 6 students who have high, medium and low abilities selected by purposive sampling. The research was carried out in three stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage and the data analysis stage. The data in this study were collected through written tests with the aim of measuring students' qualitative thinking skills, interviews and documentation studies. The results of the data that have been obtained will be analyzed in three stages, namely, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the indicators of students' qualitative thinking skills through the RMT approach on algebraic topics were mostly done well, namely labeling, systematic search to collect and complete information, comparison, use of more than one source, coding and code solving. Meanwhile, for visualization indicators, students have provided a visual form but it is still not appropriate for determining the length of each side of the shape.
