Abstract

This research aims to describe the form of intrinsic elements which include setting, plot and character, describe the interrelationship of intrinsic elements, describe the personality of the characters in the form of id, ego and superego in the novel Lotus In The Mud by Annelie and their implications for Indonesian language learning. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods. The data source for this research uses the novel Lotus In The Mud by Annelie in 2022 with the publisher Akad, which has 496 pages. The data collection technique for this research uses reading and note-taking techniques. The results of this research show that there are intrinsic elements in it (1) The place setting contains 15 data, the time setting includes morning, afternoon, evening, night, month and year, the atmosphere setting and the atmosphere setting contain 16 data. (2) The plot used in the novel is a forward plot. (3) There are 11 data characters in the novel. (4) The personalities contained in the novel are 18 data ids, 17 data egos, and 5 data superegos. The results of this research have implications for learning Indonesian language and literature in high school class XII, namely Basic Competency (KD) 3.9 Analyzing the content and language of novels.
