Abstract

Dyspepsia is a condition of discomfort that persists (episodic) or experiences recurrence of pain in the upper abdomen, nausea, vomiting, bloating, fullness, fullness of the stomach, and pain in the epigastrium. with an incidence proportion of 35.5% in Palembang City in 2015. Rational use of dyspepsia medication is very important to ensure that the medication given is appropriate, safe, and effective. This study aims to evaluate the use of drugs in outpatient dyspepsia patients at Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra Province from February to March 2024. This study was conducted prospectively by analysing medical records and assessing dyspepsia patients. Inclusion criteria in this study were patients diagnosed with dyspepsia who underwent outpatient care, age range > 18 years, and patients who received dyspepsia treatment therapy. Based on the results of the study obtained data as much as 77 medical record data meet the inclusion criteria of the study. The results showed that most dyspepsia patients were female, namely 52 patients (68%), with an age range of 26-45 years (35%). The use of dyspepsia drugs with the type of omeprazole was most widely prescribed, reaching 23%, while for the most widely used dyspepsia drug group was the Proton Pump Inhibitor group with a percentage of 44%. The results of the evaluation of the accuracy of the use of dispepsia drugs obtained 100% correct diagnosis, 100% correct indication, 100% correct patient, 100% correct drug, 100% correct dose, 100% correct route of administration, 100% correct duration of administration, and 100% side effect alert. Evaluation of drug use in dispepsia patients at Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra province has shown rational drug use.
