Abstract
Emotion regulation is a way for individuals to control emotions when alone or when interacting with other individuals. The emotional regulation of each individual has differences, one of the influencing factors is culture. This study aims to describe the level of emotional regulation of students from South Sumatra in the guidance and counseling study program class of 2022 Sriwijaya University with Saturated samples of 102 students. This research design uses descriptive quantitative research ,using the Likert Scale as a data collection technique. The results of this study showed that the majority of emotional regulation of students from South Sumatra was classified as medium category with a percentage of 70% followed by the high category of 14% and the low category of 16%.. Further analysis, based on gender, showed the medium category of men 73% and women 68%. Based on three aspects used to show medium categories, namely Activation of a regulatory goal 66%,, Impact on emotion regulation (outcomes) 70% and Aspect Engagement of the processes that are responsible for alfering the emotion trajectory 70%.. That way it can be concluded that the emotional regulation of students from South Sumatra is relatively good. The results of this study illustrate that individuals are able to regulate emotions well, it will facilitate social interaction in daily life. Keywords : Emotion Regulation, Student, Culture
