Abstract

ine objective of this research was to tind out the eificiency and rrequency aplication of N fertilizer for paddy and ratoon on tidal swampland. This research was carried out on 216 m" paddy field at Desa Sumber Mulya Kecamatan Muara Teiang, Kabupaten Banyuasin South Sumatra and in the Laboratory ot Chemistry, Biology. and Soil Fertility of Soil Department of Faculty of Agriculture. Sriwijaya University. This research was done from November 2012 to April 2013. Methoae usea in this research was Factoriai Randomizea Biock Design (RBD-F) with two factors. The first factor was the dose of fertilizer. which consists of two levels, that were 100% of the crop requirement (200 kg urea ha"1 (NT)) and 150% (300 kg urea ha'1 (N2)), while the second factor was the ffequency of Application which consists of 3 levels, that were (A_. *. 50% Applied At the beginning of planting, 50% at primordia); (A2: 33.3% given at the beginning of planting, 33.3% primordia, 33.3% given at the time of the first harvest) ; (A3 : 33.3% given at the beginning of planting. 33.3% given at the time of primordia. 16.7% given at the time of the first harvest, 16.7% given 21 days after the first harvest). Coiiected data were yieid of main paddy and ratoon, N piant content of main paddy and ratoon. The result shows that soil texture was loam. nutrients contents use low, organic matter was medium and high Cation Exchange capacity (C.E.C). Dose of Nitrogen appiication and etilciency of N did not signiticant tor yieid oi main paddy and ratoon. but there was lead of N fertilizer with a dose of 100% (200 kg ha *) with a combination A3 (33.3% given at the beginning of planting, 33.3% given at the time of primordia, i 6.7% given at the time of the rirst harvest, i6.7% given 2i days after the first harvest) lead to increase the efficiencv of the main crop. Eventhough for production of main paddy and ratoon, in treatment of fertilizer dose 200 kg per acre whicn combinea with irequency of N i'ertiiizer apiication couia be product the production which higher average in every treatments.
