Abstract

PT. X is a company that operates in the field of empty container storage services, cleaning, washing, maintenance and repair of containers, as well as reefer containers. At PT. X, every work environment has the potential for danger of work accidents, one of which is in the container cleaning area. This area involves the process of cleaning and maintaining containers, such as shipping containers or industrial containers. Even though the cleaning activity looks simple, there are several risks associated with this work which can cause accidents for workers. Work accident analysis, using the HAZOP (hazard and operability) and PHA (preliminary Hazard Analysis) methods, is very important in the container cleaning area. Through HAZOP and PHA potential hazards and risks regarding container cleaning and maintenance can be systematically identified. By focusing on aspects such as work locations, use of chemicals, use of equipment, and safety procedures. The aim of this assessment is to analyze the risk of work accidents among workers in the container cleaning area at PT. X. This research is descriptive in nature with a qualitative approach, where the research uses a mix method, namely the HAZOP and PHA methods. The results of this research found several potential risks in areas where 1 was at the extreme risk level, and 4 risks were at the high risk level, then 4 risks were at the medium risk level, and finally 7 risks were at the low risk level. The result of this potential risk is the potential for accidents and work-related illnesses for workers and equipment and the environment. Recommendations that can be given are routine inspections, providing PPE, renovating the container cleaning area, training workers in the area.
