Abstract

This study aimed to determine the ability of clay drainage pipes for underground drainage, comparing the speed of the water streaming from several textures (sand, clay) soil that will be tested, and analysis of the potential use of underground drainage system in tidal farm soil. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of EngineeringUniversity of Sriwijaya, Soil Physics Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture University of Sriwijaya, and Making Pipes in Payakabung village, Ogan Ilir. This study has been conducted from October to December 2013. Study using an experimental method by using Aquarium trial designed with a length of 180 cm, width 70 cm, height 80 cm in the ground filled with sand in it and then fiil with experimental garden soil altemately with soil thickness of 44 cm. Drainage pipes are planted at a depth of 10 cm from the ground. To observe the ground water level, ruler mounted outside the aquarium. The results of this study indicate that the ability of clay drainage pipes for underground drainage is 0.243; 0,233 liters / sec for sand media using perforated pipes and partially perforated pipe, 0.107; 0.104 liters / sec for sandy clay loam soil using perforated pipes and partially perforated pipe. The drainage speed of the water in the sand texture better than the sandy clay loam soil texture of the sand is 8.3; 8.6 minutes with perforated pipes and partially perforated pipe, while for sandy clay loam soil 15.7; 16 with perforated pipes and perforated portion pipes. Analysis of potential use in the field pipe theoretically using perforated pipe with sand media, using a perforated pipe with medium sandy clay loam soil, using partially perforated pipe with sand media, and using perforated pipe portion with medium sandy clay loam soil, serially, 47,23 hours, 107,27 hours, 49,26 hours, 110,36 hours to lower the water pipe of 12,10 cm with 20 lanes recommendations.
