Abstract

Macrozoobenthos includes a group of aquatic constituents that have an important role in aquatic ecosystems. Changes in water quality and substrate greatly affect the diversity and abundance of macrozoobenthos. Telapak Antu Beach is utilized as a tourist area, fishery activities, tin mining activities, settlements and ship berthing areas. The utilization of this beach area causes disruption of the balance of beach dynamics. This study aims to assess the diversity of macrozoobenthos to see the stability of the aquatic ecosystem of Telapak Antu Beach. Macrozoobenthos sampling using purposive sampling method. Station points are divided into 3, namely close to mining activities, mangroves and coastal rocks. Macrozoobenthos sampling using 1x1 meter plot. The results showed that the substrate has a significant influence on macrozoobenthos diversity. Macrozoobenthos found consisted of 2 classes and 28 species. The highest macrozoobenthos composition came from the Gastropoda class with 86%. The highest individual abundance was found at station 2 with the number of individuals amounting to 152 ind/m2 dominated by Cerithidea cingulata species from the Gastropoda class. The relationship between environmental parameters and sediment grain size to macrozoobenthos community structure in this study is characterized by high water pH, water salinity, and sandy substrate type will affect the diversity and uniformity of macrozoobenthos in the ecosystem.
