Abstract

This study aims to study the effect various stimulants on the yield of the latex from rubber plant dry tapping grooves, and to determine the potential to be used as a stimuiant for that’s rubber plants. The research was conducted from October 2014 until January 2015 in the garden of the rubber research, the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sriwijaya, Gelumbang, Muara Enim, South Sumatra. Rubber plants originating from clone GT1 and older than 15 years. This research was a randomized block design (RBD) with six treatments that K (Control), SA (Ammonia (NH3)), E (Ethephon (CIC2H4PO)), SF (Formaldehyde (HCOH)), SN K (Sodium Carbonate (Na2C03)), and SNS (Natium Sulfate (Na2S04)), and every replications five times. Every unit consists of three treatment plants so that the sample total sample of 90 plants that spread trees in accordance with the conditions in the field. Applications stimulants conducted twice ie on 30 November 2014 (first application) and 31 December 2014 (application 2). Tapping conducted one week since the application and tapping system used is 14S/2D. The results showed that all treatments can trigger the release of latex of the dry trees tapping grooves sam Stimuiant Sodium Carbonate is also able to produce a high enough latex 53.70 g/t/tapping (first stimuiant) and 62.22 g/t/tapping (stimuiant second). Ethephon can be produce latex as much as 52.34 g/t/tapping (giving the first stimulants) and the latex obtained as 64.44 g/t/tapping (giving a second stimulants). For dry rubber content best results shown by the plant control was 62.85%, and 62.68% Ethephon. Stimuiant potential to trigger off the latex is Sodium Carbonate.
