Abstract

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are a public health problem throughout the world. Women are one of the groups who do not understand the importance of preventing STIs, consider STIs easily cured, and not a serious problem. This study aims to analyze the determinants of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) prevention behaviour in Women of Reproductive Age in Makrayu Community Health Center working area. Quantitative research using cross-sectional design with 162 samples using purposive sampling technique. Results showed that the behavior of preventing STIs had been well implemented (63%). Bivariate analysis shows there is a relationship between economic status (p-value < 0.001), knowledge (p-value < 0.001), attitude (p-value < 0.001) and health workers support (p-value < 0.001) with Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) prevention behavior while the other variables such as age, education levels, marital status and employment status are not related to. Multivariate analysis showed variable that has most influences on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) prevention behavior is knowledge (p-value = 0.001) after controlled by economic status, attitude and support from health workers (PR = 4.161; 95% Cl = 1.837 – 9.428). Health workers are recommended to give education about STIs prevention through homevisit methode to increase their knowledge
