Abstract
Part time jobs as an English tutor have become familiar to Student of the English Study Program who take a job while still as a college student which can influence students’ academic achievement. In connection to this, part-time job as an English tutor become a reason to perceive the achievement academically. This study aims to find the correlation between students as an English tutor and their academic achievement in English Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University, and find out how working part time job as an English tutor increases or decreases students’ academic achievement. The sample of this study was 49 students from 4th, 6th, and 8th semester students of English Education Program. The instrument of this study were student as an English tutor questionnaire, Documentation of students’ GPA, and Interview. The results of this research showed there was significant strong correlation between student as an English tutor and their academic achievement (r=0.672, p.value= 0.000). Finally, students’ academic achievement increases due to students having good time management, part-time job as an English tutor helps students’ college tasks and gain a deeper understanding of lessons. And decreasing students’ academic achievement due to students cannot manage time well, difficult for adaptation, busy college schedule and reducing students’ time for self-study.
