Abstract

This research aims to determine the performance of correspondence management in the regional inspectorate of South Sumatra province. The type of research applied is qualitative research with a descriptive approach using interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. Using the performance theory approach according to T. R Mitchell (1989) is used as an analytical study in this research. Which includes 5 dimensions, namely: (1) Quality of work, (2) Pomptness, (3) Initiative, (4) Capability, (5) Communication. The results of this research related to employee performance in managing correspondence at the Regional Inspectorate of South Sumatra Province show that employee achievements in carrying out work are not serious or not optimal. This is characterized by the quality of work showing that employees lack compliance, are not guided by or are not in accordance with existing SOP. Pomptness shows that it does not meet the required quality standards outlined in the SOP, resulting in the accuracy of employee work results being less than optimal. Initiative shows that there is no employee management of correspondence or it could be said that there is no innovation or new ideas provided by employees. The capability shows that the management of correspondence at the Regional Inspectorate of South Sumatra Province is not yet supported by officials who meet competency standards in the field of correspondence because they do not have the opportunity to take part in education and training regarding official document management. Employee communication shows that it has been optimal in building better relationships with colleagues and superiors in terms of managing correspondence.
