Abstract

Latar belakang: Candida albicans merupakan jamur yang dapat menyebabkan kandidiasis psuodomembran atau oral trush, yang apabila tidak dirawat dapat menyebar ke aliran darah dan menyebabkan sepsis dan syok sepsis. Menyikat gigi dengan pasta gigi dapat mengontrol plak secara kimiawi. Kombinasi fluoride dan ekstrak gambir terbukti dapat menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans, kombinasi kedua bahan tersebut berpotensi sebagai kandungan dalam pasta gigi yang dapat menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans. Tujuan: Mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pasta gigi kombinasi ekstrak gambir dan fluoride 0,15% terhadap pertumbuhan C. albicans. Metode: Penelitian true experimental laboratory dengan desain pretest-postest with control group, dilaksanakan pada bulan April – Mei 2024, menggunakan 8 sampel dengan 4 kali pengulangan, yaitu untuk kelompok pasta gigi gambir, pasta gigi gambir fluoride, pasta gigi fluoride, dan pasta gigi placebo. Hasil: Terdapat perbedaan signifikan diantara nilai rata-rata diameter zona hambat pasta gigi gambir dan pasta gigi gambir fluoride (p<0,05), namun tidak terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada kelompok pasta gigi fluoride dan pasta gigi placebo (p>0,05). Pasta gigi gambir fluoride memiliki nilai rata-rata zona hambat paling tinggi (10,49) dibandingkan kelompok lainnya. Kesimpulan: Pasta gigi kombinasi ekstrak gambir dan fluoride 0,15% memiliki efek sinergitas dalam menghambat pertumbuhan Candida albicans.
