Abstract

This thesis explores the development of a bilingual picture book focused on climate change for young learners at SD IT Harapan Mulia Palembang. Recognizing climate change as a critical global issue, the study aims to introduce this concept to children through engaging and educational media. The bilingual picture book is designed to cater to the needs of sixth-grade students, enhancing their reading skills and environmental awareness simultaneously. The book integrates themes from the Independent Curriculum, specifically focusing on environmental damage and local culture, to align with the Pancasila Student Profile goals. The research examines the validity, practicality, and potential impact of the bilingual picture book as a teaching tool. Through expert validation, one-on-one evaluations, and field tests, the study assesses the effectiveness of the picture book in improving students' language skills and their understanding of climate change. The findings suggest that bilingual picture books can significantly contribute to both language learning and environmental education in elementary schools.
