Abstract
Indonesia seeks to expand its market share by optimising non-traditional markets and diversifying export products, with South Asia as the focus of non-traditional market expansion. Indonesia chose Bangladesh as a potential country in the region and a trading partner for palm oil (CPO) exports that is being optimised. This research aims to see how Indonesia's economic diplomacy strategy in an effort to increase palm oil (CPO) export trade to Bangladesh. This research uses S Rana's theory of economic diplomacy to see the application of the theory to the economic diplomacy strategy discussed. There are 3 dimensions in seeing the application of S Rana's economic diplomacy theory in increasing palm oil export trade. First, Economic Salesmanship explains the actions of sales people to offer palm oil. Second, the Networking & Advocacy form of contribution made by Indonesia towards wider private sector involvement. Third, Regulatory Management & Resource Mobilisation related to regulatory planning and negotiation actions in trade. This research uses qualitative research methods using secondary data collected from various sources, including Indonesian government reports, journals, books, and several articles released online. The results of this study show that Indonesia conducts economic diplomacy through trade missions through "Indonesia Fair 2018, cooperation with Meghna Group of Industries to strengthen business relations and increase trust between the two countries, involving the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) policy to improve production standards, and negotiating the Indonesia-Bangladesh Preferential Trade Agreement (IB-PTA) to reduce trade barriers. These strategies are in line with the theory to increase Indonesia's CPO exports to Bangladesh and strengthen the economic relationship between the two countries.
