Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of adding cocorbek leaf inhibitors on the corrosion rate of ST 37 steel and the quenching process. This research is using experimental method. Using five specimens that will be tested through a quenching process with cocorbek leaf inhibitors with varying concentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and without inhibitors. The quenching temperature is 800o C with a holding time of approximately 30 minutes. Corrosive media for 168 hours. After that, the weight loss teST was carried out. Specimen 1 which was given an inhibitor with a concentration of 100% experienced a corrosion rate of 0.196048367 mpy, specimen 2 which was given an inhibitor with a concentration of 80% experienced a corrosion rate of 0.256358426 mpy, specimen 3 had a concentration of 60% with a corrosion rate of 0.308124022 mpy, specimen 4 with a concentration of 40% had a corrosion rate of 0.423416086 mpy and finally, specimen 5 was not given an inhibitor, the corrosion rate was 0.451090545 mpy. The results of the study showed that the cocorbek leaf inhibitor had an influence in slowing down the rate of corrosion that occurred and increasing The greater the inhibitor concentration, the more the corrosion rate slows down and the lower the inhibitor concentration, the greater the corrosion rate of the steel.
