Abstract

Rain is the most important input component in the hydrological process. There are several characteristics of rain that are important to note in the process of diversifying rain into streams, including the intensity of rainfall, duration of rain, depth of rain, frequency and area of influence of rain. Receiving rainfall and the time of occurrence between one region can be different from other regions. Distribution of rainfall in an area within a certain time period can experience an increase and decrease. Its spread and diversity is influenced by various factors such as geographic location, topography and upper air flow. This research was conducted to find out how the distribution of rainfall and what method is in accordance with the pattern of rainfall distribution at the Civil Engineering Climatology and Planning Station of Sriwijaya University. Analysis was carried out on fourteen rainfall data for three months of rainfall events, which were analyzed using the ABM, Mononobe and Van Breen methods. The results of the analysis show that the pattern of rainfall distribution at the Climatology Station of the Civil Engineering and Planning Department of Sriwijaya University has a diverse distribution pattern. he ABM method approaches seven out of fourteen rainfall data, Mononobe approaches six out of fourteen rainfall data, and Van Breen approaches one in fourteen rainfall data. It was concluded that the method of rainfall distribution that was closest to was the pattern of rainfall distribution using the ABM method.
