Abstract

Important in agricultural production to consider the level of the efficiency of production factors used and determine the return to scale such production enterprises. Determine these two factors were to obtain the optimal result with properly production factors used. Research on the efficiency and return scale of cocoa plantation was done in Nagari Sungai Talang and continued with structured analysis by SPSS 16 for determine factors that affect cocoa production. From the analysis of the factors of production i.e. labor, land, fertilizer, pesticides, plant age and number of trees, it was knewthat factors which were affecting i.e. the fertilization and land area with significant level on 0.01. Subsequent analysis was done by looked at the allocative efficiency of the production factors. It was knew that factors land area, number of trees, and fertilization is have not eficient. While the production factor of labor in the indicator is not efficient. Furthermore, summed the regression coeficient would be obtained the level of return to scale. If the regression number coefficients was more than one, then the return to scale of the business was increasing return to scale. If the regression number coefficients was less than one, than the return to scale of production were in decreasing return to scale. Whereas if it was equal to one, then the return scale of production was constant return to scale. Total of each factors of production, it was knew that the amount was 1.695. it means increasing return to scale. The result also showed a degree earned income of farmers, the income was IDR 491,514,751 and the cost was IDR 295,022,249.
