Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus merupakan kondisi serius jangka panjang dengan gejala penyakit seperti gangguan metabolisme dengan kadar gula darah melebihi normal. Di Indonesia, diabetes mellitus menjadi masalah kesehatan yang terus mengalami peningkatan, pada tahun 2021 ada 19,5 juta orang dan diperkirakan meningkat menjadi 28,6 juta orang di tahun 2045. Diabetes mellitus dapat dipicu oleh usia, keturunan atau genetik dan jenis kelamin berkaitan dengan faktor-faktor yang tidak dapat diubah serta faktor-faktor yang dapat diubah berkaitan dengan gaya hidup seperti aktivitas fisik, pola makan, konsumsi rokok dan alkohol. Penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kejadian diabetes mellitus di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah literature review pada artikel terpublikasi online melalui database Google Scholar, Portal GARUDA dan Pubmed. Artikel yang telah didapat berdasarkan publikasi yang terbit pada tahun 2019-2023. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu faktor usia (86%), genetik atau keturunan (100%), pola makan (100%), aktivitas fisik (87%) dan kebiasaan merokok (100%) berhubungan dengan kejadian diabetes mellitus di Indonesia. Diharapkan kepada masyarakat khususnya mereka yang berusia ≥45 tahun dan yang memiliki keturunan diabetes mellitus untuk rajin mengontrol kadar gula darah dan menghindari faktor-faktor penyebab dengan menjaga pola makan sehat, rutin melakukan aktivitas fisik dan kurangi merokok.
