Abstract

Tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis germs that have developed resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs (OAT) is known as drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). Failure of patients to comply with treatment instructions, which can cause OAT side effects, can lead to resistance to OAT. In Indonesia, the average incidence of drug-resistant tuberculosis is 24,000, or 8.8 cases per 100,000 population, and 13% of tuberculosis patients have ever sought treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of the incidence of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (DR-TB) in South Sumatra Province in 2021-2023. The design of this study is analytical observational with a Cross Sectional approach, the data used is secondary data obtained from the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office. The sampling technique was purposive sampling so that 307 cases were obtained. The results showed a history of diabetes mellitus (p=0.011) and a history of previous TB treatment (p=0.000) had an association with the incidence of drug-resistant tuberculosis. While Age (p=1.000), Gender (p=0.756), and HIV Status (p=0.436) had no association with the incidence of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis. The most influential variable was previous TB treatment history. Suggestions for patients, given the high percentage of DR-TB patients, it is recommended that patients complete treatment properly and completely to prevent the occurrence of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis.
