Abstract
Population projection is the calculation of population based on age and sex data with condition of fertilty, mortality, and imigration at the future. On the research use the data of population cencus 2000 and 2010. Because the cencus results contain an errors before performing population projection the cencus data needs to be done. There are three stages of adjustment for each sex. For female, age 0-4 and 5-9 years old using suvival ratio, age 10-69 with formula of UN Smoothing, age 70+ with Table Stable Populations. For male, age 0-4 and 5-9 use sex ratio, ages 10-69 with Three Moving Average formula, and 70+ with Table Stabel Populations. The results of adjustment population in 2000 and 2010 is greater than the original data. The projection of South Sumatera in 2020 years for female are 4.012.049 people and male are 4.458.358 people and the projection result shows that most of South Sumatera province are in young age group.
