Abstract

The objectives of the research were to investigate the most effective baits treatment to control wild boar pest. The research was conducted in experimental area Agriculutral faculty Sriwijaya University, Inderalaya from March to June 2006. The experiment was arranged in randomized completed block design (RCBD) applied in 4 treatment and 6 replication, the bait treatments were cassava, sweet potato, jack fruit and pineapple. The parameter observed were the amount of wild boar population, the bait preference, and the amount of bait eaten. The result showed that 2-4 wild boar ffom 4 observatian location, the bait preference were compared with another bait treatment implies that cassava bait treatment had significant effect on average 40 for scoring, while sweet potato 28.5, jack fruit 28.2 and pineapple 24.8. The amount of bait eaten on average were cassava bait treatment 1.88 kilograms significantly different with sweet potato bait treatment on average 1.08 kilograms, jack fruit on average 1.08 kilograms and pineapple bait treatment on average 0.89 kilograms.
