Abstract
Green spinach plant (Amaranthus hybridus L). is a vegetable plant belonging to the Amaranthceae family and originates from America and then spread to Indonesia. Nontidal lowlands have the potential to be used as a good planting medium for food crops or horticultural crops. This research was conducted to determine the response of green spinach plants to the administration of various doses of rice husk biochar with and without a combination of NPK and to study the best dose for increasing the growth and production of green spinach plants (Amaranthus hybridus L.) in soil from nontidal lowlands. The research was carried out from November 2023 to January 2024 in the shadow house located on Jl. Lr Politeknik Ex. Bukit Lama, Palembang, South Sumatra and the Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The method used in this research was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) which consisted of 8 treatments, namely BS0 (control without fertilizer), BS1 (NPK recommended), BS2 (5 tons ha-1 rice husk biochar), BS3 (10 tons ha-1 rice husk biochar), BS4 (20 tons ha-1 rice husk biochar), BS5 (5 tons ha-1 a rice husk biochar + recommended NPK, BS6 (10 tons/ha rice husk biochar + recommended NPK, BS7 (20 tons ha-1 rice husk biochar + recommended NPK. There were 8 treatment levels, each repeated 4 times, so that the total number of plants was 32 plants. The variables observed in this study were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh shoot weight, shoot dry weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight, shoot root length ratio, leaf greenness level and soil pH analysis. The results of the study showed that the administration of various doses of rice husk biochar and NPK fertilizer had a very real effect on height. plants, number of leaves, leaf area, fresh shoot weight, shoot dry weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight, root shoot ratio, root length, leaf greenness level and increasing the soil pH value. The recommended 20 tons ha-1 + 100% NPK rice husk biochar treatment provides the best results compared to other treatments in increasing and growing green spinach plants (Amaranthus hybridus L.). Based on the results of this research, it can be recommended to plant green spinanch (Amaranthus hybridus L.). using 20 tons ha-1 + recommended NPK (300 kg ha-1) because it provides the best results for growth and production.
