Abstract

The rise of conversion activities or conversion of rubber land into oil palm land has occurred in the past few years. Fluctuations in rubber prices that tend to be unstable and decreasing have a major impact on rubber farmers. the objectives of this study are as follows identify the pattern of conversion of rubber land into oil palm land carried out by farmers in Panca Tunggal Village, Sungai Lilin Subdistrict, Musi Banyuasin Regency, analyze the driving and inhibiting factors that influence rubber farmers to convert rubber land into oil palm land, compare farmers' profits after converting rubber land into oil palm land in Panca Tunggal Village. This research was conducted in December 2023. The sampling method used was proportional stratified random sampling. The number of samples used in the study was 45 samples of which 30 samples of farmers who converted and 15 samples of farmers who did not convert. Farmers of Panca Tunggal Village on average do the conversion pattern of all land with monoculture method. Factors that significantly affect the conversion of rubber crops into oil palm crops in Panca Tunggal Village are the age of rubber plants, rubber income and oil palm income, while factors that do not significantly affect the conversion of rubber crops into oil palm income. These are the farmer's years of education, age, length of farming, and number of family dependents. Oil palm farming is more profitable than rubber farming in Panca Tunggal Village. The NPV value of oil palm farming is Rp552.027.709 while for rubber farming it is Rp163.485.555. Keywords: conversion, conversion factor, non conversion, npv
