Abstract

This research is conducted to delve into the local wisdom or taboos of the Suku Mapur community using the theoretical framework of local wisdom by Jim Ife. The local wisdom of the Mapur people is a rule, norm, or taboo that they believe in which it regulates how humans must behave towards nature in this case in the Pejam Hamlet area, Gunung Pelawan Village, Belinyu District, Bangka Regency. The forest for the Mapur people is a mecca that represents their welfare outwardly and inwardly (natural theology). The method used is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic research strategy to look deeply at the cultural meaning contained in the research locus. The data collection technique uses observation, interviews and documentation with Miles and Huberman (2021) analysis. The results of the study show that the genealogical of the Mapur Tribe in the Pejam Hamlet area is a migration from the Air Abik area and can be seen as one big family. The Taboo of the Mapur people regulates them in behaving towards nature, such as when in the forest, in the river, in the fields and the rules against animals. The formation of LAM is a step by the Mapur people in preserving their taboo by overseeing all aspects related to Mapur. Keyword: Local Wisdom, Genealogy, Mapur Tribe.
