Abstract

Introduction. Metabolic syndrome is a series of risk factors such as central obesity, dyslipidemia, hyperglycemia, hypertension and insulin resistance that can lead to type-2 diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease and death. One of the main causes of metabolic syndrome is a lack of physical activity. Methods. The design of this study is cross sectional with consecutive sampling method. The number of research subjects involved in this study is 109 subjects. Result. The results of the analysis found a relationship between physical activity and blood sugar (p = 0.000, POR = 44,167 (13.25 – 47,189), total cholesterol (p = 0.000, POR = 37,058 (10,110 – 135,841), triglycerides (p = 0.000, POR = 67,833 (14,642 – 314,249), LDL cholesterol (p = 0.002, POR = 1,238 (1,084 – 1,414) and HDL cholesterol (p = 0.22, POR = 1,106 (1,106 – 1,209). Conclusion. Physical activity patterns have a meaningful relationship with blood sugar level profiles and lipid profiles in patients with metabolic syndrome. Keywords : Physical Ac
